dissapointed to find out its on special bought the item a few months ago highly recommend it at any price. been using it every weekend very strong and reliable assembly was fairly easy dont have a bad word to say take advantage of the special price. (Posted on 11/08/2011)

Not so happy with this item. It looks more sturdy than it actually is. No amount of tightening on my part can stop it from wobbling (especially annoying when planing and shaping). Also, the drawer on mine snags constantly. It'll do for the moment but I'll build my own when I have the time. (Posted on 11/08/2011)

For the price this is a useful bench. The bench top is rigid and true. The vises are OK.
It does need some modification before use: cross bracing or panals between the legs on three sides to stiffen it and also something heavy on the under bench shelf to weight it down.

For a cheap bench this is not too bad. There is little quality control - expect to have to modify it a bit during assembly.The vices are okay, but the bench is too lightweight and moves even with simple sawing.
So a good option for a first-time bench, but don't buy a second one.
If you are trying to do quality woodwork then use this bench to build the next yourself. (Posted on 11/08/2011)

Good value. It is quite light though so you can't chisel a piece of wood in the vice for example without pushing the bench hard against a wall becuase it wobbles too much. There was a fault in the manufacture where a hole had been drilled incorrectly. As the product was a work bench it wasn't surprising as the purchaser that I felt capable of fixing it by substituting a larger bolt (or screw I can't remember now). Others have probably done the same, but If it was a normal piece of flat pack furniture Draper might have had more returned. I'd probably recommend buying it for light DIY work. If you're a serious regular user then if you can fix it to the wall it will be ok otherwise you probably need something more robust. (Posted on 11/08/2011)

A brilliant workbench for the price. I searched the web for this product and found DIYTools to be by far the cheapest. When you condiser that workbenches can be as much as 2000 pounds this is exceptional value. Also it was delivered in less than 2 days. Good product and OK quality / value. Not as stable as it should be for a bench of this size. Needed to fit some corner strengtheners to reduce movement.Two good woodworking vices, but nowhere to fit a metalworkers vice - made an adapter plate to overcome this problem. (Posted on 11/08/2011)

I'm delighted with the bench, delighted with both its appearance and design. It is necessary to fix it to a wall for complete stability. Unpacking the bench is very satisfying as each piece is nicely finished and "feels" good, but the most satisfying moment for me was when I unpacked the workbench top. It was everything I hoped for.The assembly instructions could be improved, as could the description of some of the fitting items. In fact I identified them more by eleimination than observation.
It's my intention never to disassemble the bench so I glued the joints in addition to the fixings supplied and I glued the lower shelf and draw assembly.

Nice piece of equipment. The "peg" system could have been made more versatile if the holes to receive the pegs had been the same diameter in the receptor holes in the vices. This would have given many more cramping and holding options. I'll make some pegs to fit, but Draper should have considered this - there's no additional cost.

Delivered on time. Easy to assemble but unstable and required to be anchored to shed supports. The draw was sent with to right handed runners and could not be fitted. Contacted Drapers who managed to find runners but they were for an earlier model and could not be fitted. The drawer is still not fitted, have not contacted Draper a second time about the problem. Decent quality workbench, however when erected it turns out that it was a lot smaller than I expected. Furthermore the legs could have done with some sort of stablisers as the workbench can easily topple over.The Vices are a bit basic - better than nothing but I fitted my old IRWIN vice instead.
Bottom line, if you can afford a bigger workbench go for it, otherwise take comfort in the price paid for this as I see the same unit elsewhere on the internet for twice as much! (Posted on 11/08/2011)

This is a well designed and attractive product. After assembly I found it to be a bit wobbly. I fixed this by taking apart and re-assembling using wood glue on all mating parts. After leaving overnight for the glue to set the bench is now rock solid. It is because of the extra work involved that I didn't rate this 5 star- although if the instructions had recommended gluing in the first place it would have saved me time and I would have given it 5 stars. A superb piece of kit. Ooooh! the wood is top quality, top of the range, lovely and smooth to touch with silky smooth legs ( like my wife's !). Excellent value for money if you wnat a permanent workbench rather than a fold-away type. I have secured the bench to the wall as previous comments have suggested. The delivery was made on the next working day, with fixtures and fittings clearly labelled and easy to assemble within an hour. With the vices fitted, it really takes me back to my school days when we had woodwork classes using workbenches just like this one. Buy it...You'll like it !! ( Make a note of the measurements 1400mm long(width), 500mm depth(from front to back) and 860mm highand make sure you've got the space first!!).
