There are four mounting locations for vices to let you configure the vices to best suit your work preference. Standard position for right-handed people and reverse position for left-handed people.
Both of the vices on front for heavy-duty clamping and at both ends for clamping in two positions and maximum clamping distance.

1. Thickness of bench top should be at least 55 mm to accommodate a sturdy construction of the shoulder vice.
2. Types of wood – hardwood such as beech, oak, ash or birch.
3. Use jaw protectors in both front and shoulder vice for a longer lifetime and an amazing grip of the work piece.
4. Right bench size for different activities. Make sure there is space enough between benches, cupboards and machines.

Quality Value Price As well as heavy duty DIY, we make guitars, so I looked first at making a bench, then at the more expensive benches in the Sjobergs range. Didn't have time to make one, & altho the dearer benches were very tempting, I reckoned this one would still do the same job... It's proved to be a well made 'proper' bench, & has so far taken a good hammering, so it fits that bill. Reassuringly solid feel to it, but do bolt it to the floor if you are going to put big things on it, & it won't move at all. It'll clamp up a standard door safely for example if you have the 6 foot option. Recommend the storage drawers options for odds & ends. No regrets about buying this bench. (Posted on 11/08/2011)
