Quick Overview

Celebrating the rich heritage of character and craftmanship that symbolize the late 19th century, the fairfield collection embodies the diversity and eclecticism that typify this most dynamic and exciting of periods.

Details

With this range Samuel Heath have drawn their influence from details in domestic architecture of the period, plaster work, balustrades, newel posts, cornices, pediments etc all sporting predominately classical motifs.

Attention to detail, careful proportioning of each component and quality of material and manufacture make these hand finished products a true reflection of the qualities inspired by the era. Utilising advanced design, machinery and finishing, the delicate, flowing, natural lines of the porcelain soap dish asnd the more formal line of the classically inspired, solid brass backplate have been brought together to create a stunning collection.

The fairfield range is a carefully balanced combination of these "formal" classical influences from the arts and crafts movement of the Victorian/Edwardian era yet with subtle hints of the "organic" flowing lines (as most clearly seen in the soap dish and robe hook) that were to become a hallmark of the Art Noveau period.

More Information

The original Knobs and Knockers was a very interesting company set up in the nineties as a specialist retail shop for door furniture. It went on to roll out a chain of regional shops all of whom drew their stocks either from a central warehouse or approved supplier list. The operation was based mainly on an excellent manual stock control system and a posh catalogue. The model was successful and profitable and the original promoters sought greater things. The mother company linked itself to a plc, dropped the door furniture and followed a different pathway. This left a few shops owned independently to make their own way in the world, so to speak. Taylor Bros of Liverpool bought the local outlet which had moved from a city centre location to a warehouse in Aintree to sell mail order with an eye on the Internet. After a few years, we merged Knobs & Knockers with our own growing internet hardware and tools business. Today, our combined website offers a formidable range of products - over 70,000 items - on a low cost basis. The website – www.diytools.co.uk – or www.knobsandknockers.co.uk – offers a wide range of door, window and cupboard furniture in ranges from modern to traditional and from popular to posh, with high quality design to the fore and lots more besides!
