Quality Value Price I saw this tool in my local hardware shop and hesitated, because it wasn't what I went there for. But when I realised that it was perfect for my mother, 88 years old, who had just had her garden tools nicked by her run-off garden help, I phoned the shop back and found it gone. Irritated, I spent time online and found it available here for even less money including delivery.
What drew me to the tool was its robust construction and remarkable similarity to the standard issue first world war trench shovel. I have one. It has so many uses I could not try to list them all, but it includes being a perfect lightweight garden digging tool, sack dispenser, snow shovel, you name it. I hesitate to list all the original first world war uses. That glorious piece was fitted with a T handle with a steel point on one end and chisel on the other, for digging rock or fighting, while the spade end also saw service in frying breakfast, and in emergency doing business on afterwards, to be lobbed as far as possible in to no-mans-land.
I am not suggesting this tool reaches those design heights, but makes a serious attempt. (Posted on 11/08/2011)
