Ready Sealed Cork Floor Tiles 1/8" / 3mm Thickness

These tiles are easy to lay and great value for money. I needed something in the hallway that would look clean and smart yet easy to care for as this is a high traffic hallway with grass, mud and dirt from football boots, garden shoes, trainers etc. These fit the job totally, are easily the best for wiping over or a quick brush and with a carpet runner when not expecting muddy traffic look absolutely stunning and bright. What I like most about these tiles is the ready sealed finish and the fact that they are warm underfoot. So no more cold feet when taking shoes and socks off at the door. (Posted on 11/08/2011)

Brilliant! I just wish I had bought twice as many. My calculating ability always was rubbish! I tried to buy these all over; B&Q told me, with a sneer, they are so yesterday. Well, let me tell you, they are magic. If you want an easy, good looking floor, this is your answer.And, it won't break the bank. My previous efforts have lasted the last nineteen yearts. The cork tiles took longer than I expected to be delivered but once they had arrived and I had useed them I was etremely pleased with them. I am using them stuck onto the side of my wardrobe to hang my necklaces on, they are perfect. (Posted on 11/08/2011)

The tiles were excellent, but beware the fact that once glued surface contact has been made, (the things seem to have a life of their own at times - in awkward places), and inadvertently contact the glued floor surface), the tiles will tend to rip if removal for re-positioning is required.Tiles place into position with un-set contact glue will curl up at the edges, so the imagined advantage of slippery positioning is not advised.

The ready-varnished tiles have a darker shade on the treated side, be careful in artificial light. Also be careful is a further coat of varnish is desired, be sure to choose the correct type of varmish or it will take ages to dry.

If you use a spray canister contact glue, try not to over-run the tile edges, but finish short and pull the glue along immediately to the edge with a light piece of wood or cork, otherwise the adhesive will travel up and over onto the visible surface to create sticky and unsightly blemishes which later are the very devil to remove.

My opinion is that as usual on DIY jobs, I had enough tiling skill by the time the bathroom floor project was completed. The product is first rate, easy to trim and looks great. If it would be possible to create a bottom surface layer which was tougher and non-rip - - - - - ? (Posted on 11/08/2011)

What can I say of a cork tile?

They were the right size but the colour was not quite as yellow as was represented on the screen.

Cork tiles seem to be in short supply these days; none of my local hardware stores had any in stock, nor could I locate any online other than these from DIYTools.co.uk. The price was reasonable but I was disappointed that the seal was somewhat superficial, and thus (I assume) not very durable. I used them to extend the cork flooring on my kitchen, but they weren't a very good match as my existing cork tiles have a glossy finish. (Posted on 11/08/2011)
