There are then 2 separate controls to slide the table from left to right for wide mortices and from front to back for deeper mortices, which will give a more accurate result than the traditional bench machine.
This system also makes the morticer very easy to use.

Quality Value Price The W310 morticerin My opinion is very good value for money. It is quiet in operation and I have cut 3/8" wide mortices in Oak using the chisels provided without any problem. The machine also doubles up as a bench drill, the change over being quick and easy. The only down side is the depth stop which is poor, firstly it was difficult to tighten sufficiently and then it broke altogether. There is some slight flexing of the pillar during use also but this doesn't seem to affect the work (Posted on 11/08/2011)
